Green and Environmentally Friendly

Many companies fear going green for trade shows will break the bank.  However, having a green exhibit and saving money often go hand in hand.  Green practices can also be cost-effective, since you are reducing energy costs, eliminating unnecessary objects that spike your budget and lessen the overall amount of waste created.  Here are some tips that can reduce your impact on the environment and your check book.

• Analyze Goals.  Begin by analyzing and prioritizing what you need to meet your goals.  Eliminate unnecessary items and make sure everything for your tradeshow is valuable to your benefit.  If the item does add value, make sure it is used resourcefully.  For example, diminish excess lighting or opt for energy efficient light bulbs, such as LED Luminators.  Make sure lights and TVs are on only during the show to reduce energy use.

• Consider Rentals.  Renting items for your booth, such as a 10’ Pop-Up Display, is a very affordable option, and you don’t need to worry about booth storage or disposable after the show.

• Green Giveaways.  Select your giveaways wisely, and make sure they are useful or they demonstrate your company’s message.  Try something sustainable, such as a reusable cloth shopping bag, stainless-steel water bottles, or organic chapstick from Elemental Herbs.  If you choose to provide giveaways, make sure they are memorable or consumable, so they are less likely to end up in a landfill.

• Reduce Paper.  Convert pre-show mailers to electronic emailers.  Instead of giving out paper brochures, print on demand only when necessary from your laptop, or if budgets allow, load portable USB drives with your literature that double as a memorable giveaway.  When you have to print, use recycled paper.  30% post-consumer content paper is the minimum guideline recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency.

• Green Packing Materials.  Polystyrene packing peanuts do not readily degrade and can be very toxic once incinerated.  Luckily, there is a biodegradable packing peanut option.  Puffy Stuff provides durable, all natural, 100% biodegradable packing products.  These packing peanuts are also reusable, so use them again and again for all of your shows.

• Modular Structures.  Creating a custom modular, lightweight exhibit will actually save you money in the long run because often you can reconfigure your exhibit for different shows and booth sizes and swap out different graphic panels.  Adaptability such as this means you are not constantly buying new materials.  Consider the EcoFlys which have extrusions made of 70% recycled aluminum, recyclable shipping cases, LED lighting and glass made from 100% post-consumer recycled soda bottle content.

Going green isn’t about wasting money, in fact it is something that can save you money.  Buying products that are environmentally friendly also double as a marketing tool and demonstrates what is valuable in the long run for your company to consumers.  Transfer your next booth to a green booth by visiting www.tradeshowemporium.com today.

Purchasing a green trade show display is the first and biggest step one takes to become environmentally friendly with their booth. Environmentally friendly trade show displays are made from socially responsible materials such as bamboo, recycled plastics and aluminum, water-based inks, carpet, fabrics and LED lights.

At the show there are several options to make your display greener. Reduce literature by printing less or printing on recycled paper. After your show is over you can recycle materials through a local agency, or at designated places in the convention center. When you are finished with your display unplug as many electronics items as you can. Items, such as lights, monitors, DVD players and many more still consume electricity even when turned off. Overtime all items added up will save a great deal of energy consumption.

Instead of sending back unused materials, recycle them locally. It will eliminate the need to ship, and reduce carbon eliminate waste. Also employing local talent reduces the carbon footprint created by traveling with your own sales team.

After your display is finished use a trade show display recycling service that will ensure the process of your display and supply you with a detailed report of materials processed.

DENVER — Since its establishment, Trade Show Emporium has had a strong commitment to being a company dedicated to the wellbeing of the environment and eliminating waste generated by the trade show industry.

As an industry, trade shows create a measurable amount of waste and have been called one of the most wasteful industries in the United States. Trade Show Emporium engages in several practices to help eliminate certain trade show waste from reaching landfills and bettering the environment through green initiatives.

With an extensive line of eco-friendly trade show products, Trade Show Emporium offers trade show display alternatives to companies looking to enhance its environmentally friendly efforts. All of the green products offered through Trade Show Emporium are developed with environmentally and socially responsible materials, including bamboo, recycled plastics, aluminum and water-based inks.

One of the many issues at the heart of wastefulness in the trade show industry is the amount of displays that are ending up in landfills and dumps throughout the country. Trade Show Emporium implements two measures to help alleviate this issue.

With our dedicated trade show display recycling for old displays and accessories, Trade Show Emporium decreases the amount of retired trade show displays being thrown away, which reduces carcinogen and green house gasses. The “reincarnation exhibit recycling” program services aluminum, plastic, wood, particleboard, cardboard, fabric, metal, nylon, laminate and carpet. Items are broken down into their rawest forms and reused to make other eco-friendly products.

Landfill waste is also reduced through Trade Show Emporium’s trade display rental program, an ideal substitute for companies who exhibit less often but want to maintain a strong presence at trade shows. This program helps eliminate the one-and-done approach that happens with many trade show products. Each rental can be customized with graphics, making the program ideal for companies who attend conferences infrequently.

Trade Show Emporium works closely with several organizations, including the Green Merchant Alliance and GenGreen Life, which help companies reduce its environmental impact through education and purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates.

DENVER — On January 20, 2009, history will be made as Barack Obama will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America, marking one of the most significant events in the country’s 233-year history. The incoming administration will quickly begin its work to solve many issues facing the country and the world.

Included among those challenges, is creating a nationwide standpoint on the importance of becoming more environmentally friendly and conscious. President Obama and his executive staff will employ all available efforts to promote eco-friendly awareness in aspects of business, government and personal life, which will undoubtedly be a considerable challenge for many to completely fulfill. However, it is important to understand the consequences if these objectives are not accomplished.

Trade Show Emporium, an industry leading resource for environmentally friendly trade show displays and products, understands the challenges facing our planet and is making every stride to revolutionize the trade show industry here in America.

Currently the trade show industry, as a whole, ranks second among the United States’ most waste generated industries in the, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Among the many items found in this waste are trade show displays that could have easily been kept from reaching landfills and on to recycling facilities. It is the thousands of cases like this that make it imperative for Trade Show Emporium to devote a larger portion of its resources to the environmental cause.

One measure taken by Trade Show Emporium to combat the wastefulness of the industry, is offering an extensive line of green trade show displays, products and accessories. New green trade show products contain a significant portion of materials that had been recycled, while the entire product itself is 100 percent recyclable at the conclusion of its use.

Since adding the extensive line of green trade show displays in April 2008, Trade Show Emporium has further its other eco-friendly causes to include a display recycling service, display rental program and a 3,500 kilowatt solar panel system. The Denver-based business also works closely with the Green Merchant Alliance and GenGreenLife, both Colorado companies, to purchase renewable energy certificates and educate the public about the environment, respectively.

Unfortunately the efforts of Trade Show Emporium and the Obama Administration can only extend so far. It is the hope that everyone will accept their personal responsibilities to fight climate change and encourage others to make the quality of the environment better for future generations.

Trade Show Display Recylcing

DENVER — At Trade Show Emporium, Denver’s premier trade show resource,  we take great pride in being a trade show supplier that wants to be at the forefront of reducing the waste that ends up in landfills. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency the trade show industry is the second most wasteful industry.

There is an easy solution to this problem and this is recycling old trade show displays using Trade Show Emporium’s simple three-step process. In fact, all you have to do is collect what you want to recycle and ship it.

Here is the entire three-step process showing how simple it is to recycle your old trade show display.

The first step in the recycling process is creating a detailed list of materials to be recycled. From there an estimate for the cost of the recycling is created and the material is shipped to our facility and broken down and separated into their rawest form. The final step sends the material to designated recycling facilities.

At the conclusion of the project a detailed breakdown is produced showing how much of each raw material was recycled.

Even though there is cost associated with recycling your display, there is great benefit from knowing you played a part in bettering our environment and reducing trade show waste in our landfills.

To have your trade show display recycled or to receive an estimate contact Trade Show Emporium at 1.866.764.2968 or visit the recycling section our Web site at www.tradeshowemporium.com

Trade Show Displays, Solar Panels

Denver, CO, October 27— In a concentrated and concerned effort to increase its environmentally friendly development, Trade Show Emporium announced Thursday the installation of a solar energy system to the roof of its building, offering a sensible and environmentally responsible alternative to energy consumption for its downtown office.

The addition of a 3,500 kW solar panel system will allow Trade Show Emporium, along with accompanying companies that occupy its downtown building, to offset the current traditional energy consumption being created by the building. The proposed system, which will be installed by Adobe Solar, will be comprised of 20 175-watt solar modules and one solar inverter that will produce an estimated 4,531 kWh of electricity yearly or 377 kWh per month.

Trade Show Emporium strongly believes in the continuing efforts to alleviate concern for the environment,” said Trade Show Emporium President, Willis Wood, Jr. “The addition of a solar energy system to our building will greatly increase our role in assisting the movement towards the use of renewable energy sources. We envision this system to deliver clean and quiet energy for many years to come.”

According to the Adobe Solar Web site, the system will operate with the 175-watt SolarWorld Modules collecting and breaking down the energy of the sun and transferring that into the solar inverter where it is collected by a SMA SunnyBoy 4000U Grid-Tied unit and converted into useful energy. Trade Show Emporium will use the bulk of this energy to power an extensive network of servers housed within the building.

The sophisticated solar energy system adds to the already eco-friendly list of current measures that Trade Show Emporium implements in an effort to reduce its carbon footprint on the environment and promote environmental awareness.

In July, Trade Show Emporium joined the Green Merchant Alliance (GMA), which is composed of businesses that promotes renewable and clean energy. Portions of Trade Show Emporium profits are taken by GMA which in turn are invested into certificates for renewable energy that fund clean energy projects. In a congruent effort, Trade Show Emporium is a leader in environmental friendly displays as well as recycling used materials.

Colorado’s Front Range receiving over 300 days of sunshine each year, according to the official Colorado tourism Web site, making it the sixth sunniest state in the nation and allowing adequate opportunities for the solar energy system to make an immediate impact on the customary energy consumption of Trade Show Emporium.

“The addition of solar energy to our building, along with our previous commitment to bettering the environment made this an easy decision for Trade Show Emporium,” Wood said. “This is just the first step in what will hopefully be several renewable energy projects that Trade Show Emporium will accomplish in the upcoming years.”

10\' Trelew Eco Display

Denver, CO – Going Green is the verb in business today. And the trade show industry is no exception, says Willis Wood, President of Trade Show Emporium (www.tradeshowemporium.com) headquartered in Denver, Colo.

As sustainability becomes increasingly a part of everyday business considerations, those same businesses are carrying over that practice to their trade show participation. Exhibitors are looking to incorporate environmentally conscious elements into their trade show displays to back up their company’s sustainability position and practices. To that end, trade show participants are choosing trade show displays made from  environmentally friendly materials, using environmentally friendly inks on printed pieces, recycling badge holders, and other innovations considered green by today’s eco-sensitive best practices.

Trade Show Emporium is assisting in the greening of trade show displays, helping exhibitors go green.  Trade Show Emporium now offers green trade show displays with environmentally friendly fabrication, including:

•    materials are derived from recycled content and reduce natural resource dependency
•    low volatile organic compound (VOC) emission adhesives, stains, and finishes versus petroleum based     options that pollute the air
•    use rapidly renewable materials like fast-growing bamboo over finite alternatives that take years longer to reproduce.

Trade Show Emporium’s goal is to help spare the environment and improve business practices, explains Wood. He spends a great deal of his time introducing green options to trade show exhibitors showing them how these new products employ sustainable materials in the design and production of exhibits and display products.

Even more revolutionary than simply offering green product for sale, Trade Show Emporium is offering Exhibit Recycling.  “The event and trade show industry is the second largest producer of solid waste in the United States,” Wood says quoting recently released industry figures. “Events like trade shows start and finish with construction and demolition. We’re on board to see that those two processes—set up and tear down—are managed in the most responsible green ways possible.”

Called “Reincarnation Exhibit Recycling,” this service offered by Trade Show Emporium is designed to reduce the volume of retired exhibit materials reaching landfills, thus eliminating the release of carcinogen and green house gasses. This service features the up- and down-cycling of nearly every exhibit material including: Aluminum, Plastic, Wood, Particle Board, Cardboard, Fabric, Metal, Nylon, Laminate, Carpet… and more.

Ship Trade Show Emporium your old, anything-but-green trade show display to ensure that you are helping the environment by recycling it instead of having wind up in a land fill.

Trade Show Emporium’s green line of trade show products offer a unique opportunity for your company to express your sustainability commitment in full view of your clients and prospects, Wood adds.

To find out more about the environmentally friendly trade show displays that Trade Show Emporium offers or the Reincarnation Exhibit Recycling Program please visit the green section of the company website at: http://www.tradeshowemporium.com/green-products.html.
